What people notice and filter as seasons and events approach

This report organizes four observations from the second week of September 2026—RushTok, the September reset, Korean expressions of autumn, and the Olive Young Sale—along the customer journey. They are not one overarching trend but E0–E1 signals found in different markets, recorded with both observed responses and what remains unknown.

Four patterns observed this week

  • Brands turn RushTok into a stage: Apparel, beauty, and food brands are joining content about the US sorority recruitment experience through giveaways, staged spaces, and collaborations. The University of South Carolina reported 2,560 applicants for 2026 recruitment and described prospective students using social content for advance research. Washington Post Creator and Business of Fashion separately covered the rise in brand participation.
  • September reset and autumn routines: TikTok Shop UK used September reset, new routine, cosy self-care, and autumn wardrobe in its September campaign guidance and linked three creator videos as examples. These are production themes proposed by the platform to sellers; they do not by themselves prove increased customer demand.
  • Korean expressions of the transition to autumn: In a republished 30-day TikTok Korea ranking, #가을코디 (autumn outfits) ranked second with 7,300 posts and 34.1 million views. In a republished ranking of rising Instagram audio from the same week, Earth, Wind & Fire's September ranked second with 1.89 million Reels, while Yoon Gun's 가을에 만나 ranked 33rd with 29,000.
  • Pre-purchase filtering during the Olive Young Sale: In the same republished 30-day TikTok Korea ranking, #올영세일 ranked third with 5,200 posts and 59 million views. Official advertising emphasized the event period and benefits, while an organic video labeled as non-advertising put before you buy and buy or skip at the front of its title.

Where the patterns sit in the customer journey

  • Exposure environment: Sorority videos on RushTok and repeated autumn music and outfit content make their subjects familiar. Views and usage counts are traces of exposure, not measures of preference or purchase impact.
  • Trigger: A new semester, a seasonal change, and a limited-time sale prompt people to revisit their routines and shopping lists.
  • Exploration: USC interviews confirmed that students used TikTok and YouTube before enrollment to understand the recruitment process and clothing expectations. They were looking beyond formal guidance for scenes of what the experience actually looks like.
  • Evaluation: An organic Olive Young Sale video narrowed options by discussing advertising status, actual use, and product-level pros and cons. At the time observed, it had 49,841 views and 447 likes.
  • Purchase and experience: This collection contains no evidence on payment, returns, repeat purchases, or satisfaction. Responses to evaluation content should not be treated as purchase outcomes.

Organic content and marketing creative

On RushTok, Altar'd State said it provided clothing to 34 chapters at 20 schools, distributed about 200 PR boxes, and ran giveaways for 30 college students. Khloud sampled on more than 25 campuses and ran a joint mailer for 250 recipients. Lucky Charms connected sorority shamrocks, green, and luck references with its brand symbols through decorations and participation scenes. This collection did not verify views, likes, or comments for the original social posts embedded in the three cases.

The distinction between marketing and organic roles is clearer in the Korean Olive Young Sale examples. The official ad September Olive Young Sale Now Arriving! had 1,480,970 views and seven likes at the time observed, but whether paid distribution was included could not be confirmed. INBORA's comparison video, labeled as non-advertising, evaluated several new products by separating what to buy from what to skip. The view counts of the two videos should not be directly compared, and advertising effect and organic persuasion should not be calculated as if they were the same metric.

Verisca interpretation

Across these observations, people do more than consume the name of a trend: they use content to preview unfamiliar experiences, reorganize life around a seasonal change, and filter what is worth buying from too many options. The four patterns differ in market, period, and behavior, so they cannot be reduced to one cause or generational trait.

For content planning, it is worth testing work that shows the customer's actual task rather than simply putting a trending phrase in the title. The job of RushTok content is show the real process and atmosphere; the September reset is make a small adjustment for the new season; and Olive Young Sale content is filter advertising and narrow the shortlist. These are production hypotheses, not proven performance prescriptions.

Brands were observed joining cultural currents through symbols, places, and behaviors already in use rather than through a single standalone ad. The existence of an activation, however, does not establish improved brand preference or purchase impact.

Questions for the next observation

  • Did September reset and 가을코디 increase compared with the same period last year, or are they recurring seasonal effects?
  • How do non-sponsored and brand-collaboration RushTok posts differ in views, comments, shares, and the substance of responses?
  • During the Olive Young Sale, which questions recur in practice: discount, ingredients, skin fit, or advertising status?
  • After viewing evaluation content, do users actually explore official product pages or narrow a purchase shortlist?
  • How does the same seasonal pattern take different forms and expressions in Korea and globally?

Limitations

  • This is the first observation batch for Week 37 of 2026. It selected two global and two Korean currents but did not fill the target of three organic examples and two marketing creatives for every current.
  • The Korean TikTok figures came from a weekly republication that identified its source, not from the raw screen. They should not be used as confirmed long-term trends until the original ranking is rechecked.
  • TikTok Shop UK is guidance for UK sellers. Its proposed expressions should not be equated with actual customer demand.
  • YouTube views and likes are public values at the observation time. Impressions, watch duration, paid-distribution share, and purchase conversion are unknown.
  • RushTok is concentrated in US college culture and the annual recruitment period. It cannot be generalized to Korea or other age groups.
  • The ten sources are reference documents and content items, not ten independent behavioral studies under identical conditions. The combined evidence does not exceed E1.
