AI Mode information monitoring is reaching users beyond paid plans
Google is reportedly rolling out AI Mode's ongoing information-monitoring feature to users globally beyond its initial paid subscribers. Recurring searches may become alerts, but usage and website-visit effects have not been verified.
Confirmed observations
Google introduced information agents for AI Mode in its May 2026 Search I/O announcement. A user can set an ongoing topic, after which an agent is intended to check news, blogs, social posts, and fresh shopping, finance, or sports information and send a synthesized update when relevant changes occur. Google said the feature would launch first for paid Pro and Ultra subscribers.
On September 28–29, Search Engine Journal and Search Engine Roundtable cited a public statement by Google's Search product lead that the feature was rolling out to users globally beyond those paid plans. Both reports trace to the same announcement; they are not two independent sources of usage outcomes. Availability by country, language, and account still needs to be checked in the product.
Verisca interpretation
AI search is extending from answering a question now to monitoring a delegated topic and contacting the user when something changes. Brands may need to observe which changes and sources appear in these subsequent alerts, not only in the first search response.
This is a change in feature availability. The evidence does not show whether people search less often, which alert sources they click, or whether brand consideration and purchases change. Effects on the trigger and exploration stages remain hypotheses.
Follow-up validation
- Can users actually set information monitoring in Korean and in key markets?
- What changes and sources do alerts select, and how are source links displayed?
- How do recurring searches, alert clicks, and visits to original pages compare with the existing search path?

- Both reports relay the same announcement and do not independently establish effects.
- Usage, alert clicks, visits to original pages, and brand or purchase outcomes are unavailable.
